SUMMARY OF ADULT ISMP SAMPLING - 1997 MIDDLE GREEN RIVER

Shocking in the four standard reaches began on 29 April and
was completed 29 May. One each of the four standardized
monitoring reaches was sampled each week during this period.
No Elective Reach was sampled in 1997 because of equipment
problems and conflicts with other programs.

A total 58 Colorado squawfish (CS) was captured during
monitoring activities. An additional 33 CS were observed, but
not netted. Squawfish ranged in size from 141-637 mm
(mean=557 mm) and from 18-2000 gr (mean=1137 gr). The catch
rate for squawfish was 1.46 fish/hour. Eleven (19%) of the
fish caught were recaptures of fish originally tagged between
1991 and 1995. Scales were collected from all of these fish
for possible age analysis. Muscle plugs were taken from some
CS for contaminants analysis.

Four razorback suckers were captured, all in Reach 2
(Jensen). These fish were captured above Razorback Bar (RM
312.2 and 312.8), above Brush Creek (RM 305.8) and in Ashley
Creek (RM 299.0). These fish were between 489 mm and 539 mm
long (mean=508 mm) and weighed from 1250 gr to 1800 gr
(mean=1506 gr). Muscle plugs and scales were taken from all
razorback suckers for contaminants and aging evaluation by
USFWS.

Five roundtail chubs were netted: one in the Jensen Reach and
two each in the Island Park and White River reaches.
Roundtail chubs were from 164 mm to 419 mm long (mean=258 mm)
and weighed between 30 gr and 750 gr (mean=250 gr) .

Seven species of introduced game fish were observed.
Nineteen northern pike were encountered: primarily in the

5
