<br />dBase files to the Recovery Program database repository in Grand Junction (deferred to
<br />FY 98 because oftime constraints), Larval-fish identification (collection processing)
<br />scheduled for FY 97 included collections submitted under the following programs of
<br />continued emphasis: I) Interagency Standardized Monitoring Program (ISMP), 2)
<br />Aspinall studies, and 3) Flaming Gorge studies. In all, 1,677 collections were expected,
<br />but 1,836 were actually received and processed, All work on these collections was
<br />completed by the end of October 1997, except as noted above. A few sets of collections
<br />scheduled for and begun in FY 96 were also completed in FY 97, but with funds provided
<br />for FY 96, Curation of (larval and other) small-fish collections for FY 97 included
<br />ongoing maintenance for over 60,000 lots of preserved Upper Colorado River Basin
<br />(UCRB) specimens (nearly three million fish) and the first of a three-year effort (FY97-
<br />FY99) to complete cataloging and upgraded care and management ofbackIogged
<br />collections dating back to 1976 (approximately 33,000 lots), expand and improve
<br />coJlection storage facilities, and continue efforts to assure the future permanency of the
<br />collection,

<br />A, Larval (and Other Small) Fish Identification,
<br />Laboratory services performed in FY 97 included the sorting (if fish were not
<br />separated from debris and other organisms prior to shipment), identifying, processing,
<br />cataloging, and accessible storage of preserved specimens from:

<br />(I) ISMP seine collections-
<br />(a) Fall 1995 from the Colorado River (CDOW and UDWR) and Green River
<br />(UDWR); cataloging and report completed under FY 96 funds, 157 samples
<br />received and processed,
<br />(b) Spring 1996 from the Colorado River (UDWR); counts, measures, cataloging,
<br />and report completed under FY 96 funds. 55 samples received and processed,
<br />(c) Fall 1996 from the Colorado River (CDOW and UDWR) and Green River
<br />(UDWR), 170 samples expected, 81 received and processed,
<br />
<br />(2) Aspinall drift-net, seine, and light-trap collections-
<br />(a) 1996 Gunnison River, Bridgeport to Grand Junction drift-net, and Colorado
<br />River, Grand Junction to Lorna drift net collections (CDOW), 300 samples
<br />expected, 686 received and processed.
