<br />~ <br />~ <br />00 <br />00 <br /> <br />The council recognizes the following USGS <br /> <br />water~qualitY/salinity related studies for their relevance <br /> <br />to current water-management issues in the basin: (1) <br /> <br />irrigation drainage studies in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and <br /> <br />Wyoming, (2) salt-loading from public lands to Lake Mead <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />tributaries in Nevada, and (3) ground-water contributions <br /> <br />to salinity in the San Juan River basin, New Mexico. Also, <br /> <br />the following reports are quite valuable to water <br /> <br />management agencies: <br /> <br />(1) Mueller, D.K., and Osen, L.L., 1988, Estimation <br /> <br />of natural dissolved solids discharge in the upper Colorado <br /> <br />River basin, Western United States: Water-Resources <br /> <br />Investigations Report 87-4069, and <br /> <br />(2) Mueller, O.K., and Liebermann, T.O., 1988, <br /> <br />Extension of streamflow and dissolved solids records at <br /> <br />selected sites in the Colorado River basin, Arizona, <br /> <br />California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and <br /> <br />Wyoming, 1940-83: Water-Resources Investigations Report <br /> <br />87-4203. <br /> <br />The Council urges timely publication of the following <br /> <br />report: <br /> <br />Liebermann, T.O., Mueller, D.K., Kircher, J.E., and <br /> <br />Choquette, A.F., 1988, Characteristics and trends of <br /> <br />streamflow and dissolved solids in the Upper Colorado River <br /> <br />Basin, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming: <br /> <br />Open-File Report 87-568. <br /> <br />-11- <br />
