<br />Environmental <br /> <br /> <br />r,.,- <br />. <br />--:.. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Sun sets on Reclamation reservoir. <br /> <br />NEPA compliance In fiscal year 1983 included <br />the filing of the Draft Environmental Statement <br />of the Diamond Fork Power System, prepara. <br />tion of four Environmental Assessments, five <br />Findings of No Significant Impact, and 114 <br />Categorical Exclusions. <br /> <br />Reclamation, in cooperation with the Fish and <br />Wildlife Service. continued a 3-year monitoring <br />effort at the endangered fishes that will <br />address questions relating to the operation of <br />Flaming Gorge Dam and the importance of <br />Lake Powell to the endangered fish, This <br />monitoring effort will cost approximately <br />$550,000 with $190,000 expended in 1983, A <br />tlnal report Will be prepared In fiscal year 1 985 <br /> <br /> <br />The report on the final segment of the "Fish- <br />eries Investigations of the Flaming Gorge Tail- <br />water" was completed in August 1983, The <br />final summary report will be completed in <br />fiscal year 1984. <br /> <br />Recognizing the importance of the tallwater <br />trout fisheries below Fontenelle, Crystal, <br />Navajo, and Glen Canyon Dams, Reclamation <br />has initiated a 2-year $470,000 study of these <br />fisheries. The purpose of this study is to deter- <br /> <br /> <br />Collecting design data for CUP <br /> <br />mine flow requirements and other habitat <br />needs of the fishes. This will allow Reclamation <br />to better operate and maintain these facilities <br />in compatibility with this valuable resource. <br /> <br />7 <br />
