I\:)
~
CJ1
W

The City of Henderson has also been issued a ground-
water discharge permit. The City is acting independently
of other municipal entities contributing effluent to Las
Vegas Wash and proposes to construct a lagoon system which
will include an aeration process and an infiltration pond
which will add water to the Las Vegas Wash as acceptable
ground water and make surface water available for use in
irrigation of golf courses and municipal green areas.
New Mexico - Authority for issuing permits has not
been granted to the State and the program is being admin-
istered by EPA, Region VI. EPA is following the Forum
policy in the administration of the permit program. In
the Colorado River Basin within the state, the following
industrial permits have been issues: Electric Power - 3;
Coal mines - 3; Uranium mines - 8; and Gravel plants - 4.
All permits are consistent with the Forum's policy regarding
salt discharge.
EPA has determined that discharges covered by the
Uranium mine permits will contribute less than 350 tons of
salt per year to the nearest perennial stream segment of
the Colorado River.
Municipal discharges permits have been issued for
three major and two minor sewage treatment plants, two
water treatment plants, and twenty-four small domestic
sewage systems. Forum policy will be followed in the
issuance of new or reissued permits.
Utah - The EFA-retains permit issuing authority in the
State of Utah. However, the State, in cooperation with EPA,
establishes policy and conditions of the permits. A total of
23 industrial permits and no municipal discharge permits were
issued during the period October 1, 1979 to September 30, 1980.
All permits comply with the Forum NPDES policy.
Wyoming - The State of Wyoming has the authority for
the issuance of NPDES permits. During the period October 1,
1979 to September 30, 1980, three renewals for industrial

-25-

)~,
