<br />r- <br /> <br /><.D <br />.-I <br />o <br />'..-) <br />;::J <br /> <br />Chapter I <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Grand Valley Diversion Dam, about 8 miles upstream from Palisade, Colorado. <br />On the north side of the river, the canal extends for about 54 miles. Near <br />Palisade, water from the East End Government Highline Canal is delivered to <br />the privately owned and operated Price and stubb Ditches. As the water is <br />delivered to the Price Ditch, it passes through a hydraulic turbine that <br />lifts a portion of the water to the stubb Ditch. After the price-Stubb <br />Pumping Plant, the next 11 miles of the Government Highline Canal (this <br />portion is referred to as the East End Government Highline Canal) continues <br />westward serving about 2,000 acres of irrigation land within the prD and <br />McrD service areas. The Government Highline Canal then continues on <br />another 36 miles to serve 25,740 acres of Project lands. <br /> <br />4 <br />
