SUMMARY (Continued)

.

effectiveness of this plan is within the Reclamation guidelines for
implementation of salinity control projects and compares favorably with
the projected costs of other salinity control units.

Cost-Effectiveness Comparison with Other
Salinity Control Units

Cost effectiveness is being used by Reclamation to determine which
salinity control units or components of units have the greatest poten-
tial for reducing salinity concentration for the least money spent. An
array of the cost effectiveness rates and tons of salt removed provides
a basis for comparing the effects of various units or their components.
Units that have been completed or are nearing completion are used as a
base for comparing with units under study. Only units for which planning
reports have been prepared are included in the comparison. The following
table compares the Dirty Devil River Unit with two completed units (the
Grand Valley Unit, Stage One Development, and the Meeker Dome Unit) and
three planned units (the Lower Gunnison llasin Unit; the Grand Valley
Unit, Stage Two Development; and the Uinta Basin Unit).

.

.

002330

S-22
