Four units, now vacant,
would be occupied by operation and maintenance
personnel and their families.
About 26 workers would be needed during the
peak construction period; 21 of these workers
would likely be local residents. Only four
operation and maintenance workers and their
families would be associated with the unit
over the long term.
The construction force or operation and main-
tenance workers and their families would have
a negligible effect on services.
The energy for vehicles and machinery would be
short- and long-term commitments of resources.
Visual effects would exist for the life of the
unit, or longer, until facilities were removed
and the landscape restored.
These qualities would both degrade slightly
but would remain within legal standards.
The unit would remove 20,900 tons of salt and
2.75 cis (about 2,000 acre-feet/year) of water
and store it in the Coconino Sandstone.
Vegetation on 25 acres would be lost to unit
facilities construction; landscaping after
construction would offset these losses. Post-
construction monitoring would identify the
long-term effects.
During construction, short-term decreases of
the local population of small mammals and
birds would occur and some small terrestrial
animals would be lost. Long-term populations
would not be affected.
No effects.
The Wright fishhook cactus is being further
evaluated to eliminate effects from construc-
tion of facilities and roads.
The unit would not disturb any significant
cultural resources.
No effects.

002329

S-21
