As a part of the p:rellent investigat:l.on, the 1933 survey was
reviewed and spot checked in the field. It was concluded that results of
the 1933 survey would be sufficiently reliable for the present appraisal,
A detailed classification to current specificat:l.ons, however, probably
would show the lands to be somewhat less suitable for irrigation fanning.
Small areas, fonnerly shown as class 2, have developed seepage problems
and others are noticeably shallow. More detailed investigations, however,
should add new areas, mostly of class 3 and 4 land, which would tend to
offset the lands eliminated frOlll the arable classes.

~e 1933 survey showed an arable area of 7,800 acres, s.ll in class 2.
Approximately 700 acres of this land are currently being irrigated with a
'!he table

relatively reliable vater supply in the Stevens Ranch area.
below shows the arable lands by township and range.

Summary of arable lands!:!
(Unit--acres)
Location Nonirr1gs:ted
Township Pange land
34 H. 2 w. 430
34t N. 2 W. 5
35 N. 2 w. 2,825
36 N. 2 W. 10
~ N. 1 w. 30
35 N. 2t w. 400
36 N. ~ w. 890
31 N. ~ w. 60
35 N. 3 W. 110
36 N. 3 w. 1,680
Total 1,roO ~O
Y Based on 1933 reconnaissance surreys
land6 were classified as Clasll 2.

Irrigated
land

100

Total
430
5
3,525
10
30
400
8go
60
110
1,680
1,000
1n which all

8
