.

.

.

O~ r....' 1
~~~.....
CHAPl'ER I
GENERAL DISCUSSIONS
formulate and appraise possible plans of development on the basis of
current economic criteria. Field work on land classification and proj-
ect features consisted primarily of inspection of previous surveys.
Canal lines were projected with the aid of altimeter surveys, aerial
pictures, and Geological Survey topographic quadrangle sheets. A rough
topographic survey was made of Perry Draw Dam and Reservoir sites.
Local farmers and agricultural officials were interviewed regarding
farming operations in the area. Office "WOrk included studies of water
supply, power development, agricultural economy, and financial analysis;
designs and cost estimates of works included in the various development
plans considered; conq:>arative studies of the various plans; and prepara-
tion of this report. Essentially all of the work so far acconq:>lished
is of a reconnaissance degree of accuracy. Supporting data for the
estimates and studies made are on file in the Durango Development Office
of the Bureau of Reclamation.
7
