<br />. OO~979 <br /> <br />6. San DieqoRivet'and Mission Ba California. The construction contract <br />was inltlate or U1Vlra Basln for temporary measures to reduce wave damage <br />until the model study is complete and a permanent solution is determined. <br /> <br />7. San Francisco Bay to Stockton Ship Channel, California. On 10 August 1978, <br />the report entitled "San Francisco Bay to Stockton, Ca1 ifornia Project <br />(San Francisco Bay to Point Edith Region) - Environmental Economic Status <br />Report" was furnished to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, the <br />local project sponsor. The document was prepared as a status report of study <br />accomplishments and remaining study needs whereby the County could assess <br />its position in regard to continuing project support. Commencing in 1979, <br />investigations of incremental project construction and salinity control <br />barrier tests have been conducted. A Decision Paper is due for completion <br />by 31 August 1979 which will identify these project elements which are \ <br />economically and environmentally feasible for construction. This document <br />will also summarize the results of studies of movable or controllable salinity <br />barriers. <br /> <br />8. Sacramento River Bank Protection, California. Regarding on-going con- <br />struction, Unit 30 is 96 percent complete. Units 33 and 34 are on schedule <br />and are 56 and 25 percent complete, respectively. Further work on the second <br />phase of the Sacramento River Bank Protection Project is being delayed pending <br />an agreement on the extent of Federal mitigation for fish and wildlife losses <br />caused by construction of the first phase. A report to the Congress is <br />currently being processed. This report recommends acquisition of 260 acres <br />of land to mitigate for project related losses caused by construction of the <br />first phase of-bank pro~ection works. <br /> <br />9. Indian Bend Hash, Arizona. Three remaining contracts are scheduled for <br />next calendar year - the Interceptor Channel (February), the Greenbelt Trail <br />System (May), and Side Channels (October). The entire project is scheduled <br />for completion in 19B1. Construction of the Inlet Channel and Indian School <br />Park should be completed in August. <br /> <br />10. Cave Buttes Dam, Arizona. Construction of the $10.5 million dam started <br />14 September 1977 and is presently 92 percent complete. Progress over the <br />past six months has been good and the project will be completed in Spetember <br />1979. <br /> <br />OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM: <br /> <br />1. Regulating Permit Program. During the time from 1 January to 30 June <br />1979, the three District offlces of the South Pacific Division (Sacramento, <br />Los Angeles, and San Francisco) collectively issued the following numbers <br />of Section 404 permits regulating the discharge of dredged or fill materials <br />into waters of the United States: <br /> <br />C-27 <br /> <br />-.........~.-~._..- ",":'''''' . ..~'-.' <br /> <br />.c,_ ,_-..,.....,'t..~...,.
