Dams have been classified as unsafe, <br />na~-emergency at an early stage af study. In Nevada, six af the 18 dams <br />ar~ classified unsafe; of that number, ,faur were classified since January <br />1979. In Utah, 12 af 34 dams are classified as unsafe, 11 af thaseclassified <br />since January 1979. In Cal Harnia, no. unsafe dams have been faund. Califarnia. Phase I GDM studies are underway with <br />the initial public meetlngs held in Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino. <br />Caunties, last spring. The Plan af Study is being reviewed by the Sauth <br />Pacific Divisian. Phase I GDM studies are scheduled far campletian in 1981. <br />Principal issues to. be addressed include cast sharing, updating af hydraulic <br />and ecanamic analyses, dispasal af material; reaffirmatian or refarmulation <br />afplans far Santiago.
