Special Study IV - Watershed Area Studies <br /> <br /> <br />Sutter-Placer Study <br /> <br />Meeting held April 26, 1979 with representives of Sutter <br />County RCD, Placer County RCD, Sutter and Placer County <br />Supervisor.s and Public Works Departments, Reclamation <br />District 1001, California Department of Water Resources <br />and concerned citizens. -Main concern was flood prevention <br />and irrigation. <br /> <br />Hot Sprin~s Water Mana~ement Study <br /> <br />An inventory and evaluation has been prepared by the field <br />office and planning is scheduled for next fiscal year. <br /> <br />COLORADO: Cooperative Studies <br /> <br />NEVADA: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Cooperative river basin reports have been completed for all the <br />basins in the Colorado River drainage. <br /> <br />Salinity Control Projects <br /> <br />Grand Valley - Implementation of the on-farm salinity control <br />project is underway. Over $1.3 million has been obligated by <br />the ASCS. This represents requests from over 300 farmers. A <br />supplement to the plan is being prepared. The supplement will <br />cover lateral improvements needed to make the on-farm systems <br />function properly. <br /> <br />Lower Gunnison Basin - Preliminary draft of the USDA report on <br />on-farm improvements has been completed. A review of the draft <br />indicated that some study of lateral improvements is needed. <br />Recommendations for prioritization of construction watersheds <br />are being developed. <br /> <br />Me ElmO Creek - Data collection underway. Intensive monitoring <br />of irrigation practices on six farms is being conducted jointly <br />with the Bureau of Reclamation. Inventory and evaluation of <br />wetland habitat is underway. <br /> <br />Colorado River Salinity Control Project - Vir~in River Study <br /> <br />Preliminary assessment of potential on-farm salt reduction has <br />been completed for the Moapa Valley in Nevada and a draft report <br />prepared. Work is continuing on the Virgin River area in Arizona <br />and Nevada. <br /> <br />0-17 <br />
