<br />The alternative discharge points outside of Las Vegas Wash being studied, but not included in the SCOP,
<br />are: I) at Promontory Point in Lake Mead, 2) in the Nevada penstock tunnel at Lake Mead, and at Gold

<br />It is expected that the Environmental Assessment for the Effiuent Interceptor project will be
<br />completed in September of2002 and the final Environmental Assessment will be completed in November
<br />2002, The final design for the project will be completed in May 2003 and the project construction will be
<br />completed in June 2005, After completion of the project, preparation of the environmental impact
<br />statement for the Phase IV strategies/elements will be initiated, These Phase IV strategies include looking
<br />at alternative discharge points,

<br />by Assembly Member Dave Kelley (R-San Bernardino), AB 1949, introduced on February 14,2002, is
<br />considered a "spot" bill which would allow elements of California's Colorado River Water Use Plan and
<br />the LCR MSCP to be addressed in legislation, if needed and desirable,

<br />MWD 'S Requestfor Proposal for 50,000 AF from Seawater Desalination
<br />
<br />On February 14, 2002, MWD received a number of "Statements of Interest" to its Request for
<br />Proposal for the development of cost-effective seawater desalination projects capable of contributing to
<br />the region's overall water supply reliability, MWD's intent is to initially develop 50,000 acre-feet of
<br />water.

<br />Five proposals were selected for further analysis, They are:
