Created wetlands include, but are not limited to
wetlands created inadvertently by human activities such as
mining, channelization of highway runoff, irrigation, and
leakage from man-made water conveyance or storage facilities.

(I) Criteria are elements of water quality standards, expressed
as a desired condition, constituent concentration, level, or
narrative statement, representing a quality of water that
support's a part~cular use.

Designaited Use is a use that is specified in water quality
standards as a goal for the water body segment, whether or
not it 1s currently being attained.

(J)

(K)

Dissolved Metals is the concentration of metals in a water
sample that has been prefiltered through a O.45~ membrane
filter.

(L)

Existing Use means a use that is actually attained in the
waterbodY on or after November 28, 1975, whether or not it is
included in the water quality standards.

High Quality Water means a waterbody that has special
signifipance to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe which requires
special protection provided by the High Quality Water
antidegradation classification.

"Lethal Concentration-50" is the concentration of an element
that is lethal to 50% of the test organisms within a defined
period of exposure.

(M)

(N)

(0)

Mixing Zones are areas surrounding or downstream of a point
source discharge where the effluent plume is progressively
diluted by the receiving water and certain numerical water
quality criteria otherwise applicable to the waterbody
segment may be exceeded. Narrative criteria must be achieved
within mixing zones.

(P)

Outstanding National Resource Water (ONRW) means a waterbody
segment' that has been designated as an ONRW in the tribal
water qUality standards and may include waters of ecological,
recreational or cultural significance.

3

,. t.

.-- _~ ';', ". _,"__.:a.
