<br />2 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Section 293.3 - Control of Uses <br /> <br />To the extent not liMited by the ilildernes5 Act, subsequent le'lislation <br />establishin'! a particular unit, or these re'lulations, the Chief, Forest <br />Service, may prescribe measures necessary to control fire, insects, and <br />disease and measures which may be used in emer'lencies involvin,! the health <br />and safetv of persons or damaoe to pronert,v and may require permits for, <br />or otherwise limit or re'lulate, any use of national Forest land, including, <br />but not liMited to, campin'!, campfires, and orazing of recreation <br />livestock. <br /> <br />t, <br /> <br />Section 293.4 - Maintenance of Records <br /> <br />The Chief, Forest Service, in accordance with Section 3(a)(2) of the Hilder- <br />ness Act, shall establish uniform nrocedures and standards for the mainten- <br />ance and availability to the public of records pertainin'l to National Forest <br />Wilderness, includinq maps and leoal descriptions; copies of re'lulations <br />ooverninq Wilderness; and copies of ouhlic notices and reports submitted to <br />Conqress regardino pendinq additions, eliminations, or modifications. Copies <br />of such infonnation pertainino to tlational Forest iJilderness vlithin their <br />respective jurisdictions shall be available to the public in the appropriate <br />offices of the Reoional Foresters, Forest Sunervisors, and Forest Ran'lers. <br /> <br />Section 293.5 - Establishment, Modification, or Elimination <br /> <br />National Forest Hilderness will be established, modified, or eliminated <br />in accordance with the provisions of Sections 3(b), (d), and (e) of <br />the Wilderness Act. The Chief, Forest Service, shall arrange for issuin'l <br />public notices. apnointino hearing officers, holding public hearinqs, <br />and notifyino th~ Governors of the States concerned and .the ooverninq <br />board of each county in which the lands involved are located~ <br /> <br />a. At least 30 days public notice shall be 'liven of the proposed <br />action and intent to hold a public hearinq. Public notice shall <br />include publication in the Federal Reoister and in a newspaper <br />of neneral circulation in t~vicinity of the land involved. <br /> <br />b. Public hearinqs shall be held at locations convenient to the <br />area affected. If the land involved is in more than one State, <br />at least one hearinq shall be held in each State in which a <br />nortion of the land lies. . <br /> <br />c. A record of the public hearino and the views suumitted subsequent <br />to public notice and prior. to the close of the nublic hearin,! <br />shall be included with any recommendations to the President <br />and to the Con'lress with respect to any sllch action. <br /> <br />d. At least 30 days before the date of the public.hearino, suitable <br />advice shall be furnished ~o the Governor of each State and the <br />
