There are no significant diversions upstream of the gage. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Hermosa Creek near Hermosa <br /> <br /> <br />The gaging station site is located two miles upstream from the mouth <br /> <br /> <br />of Hermosa Creek, ten miles north of Durango in Section 3, Township 36 North, <br /> <br /> <br />Range 9 West. Hermosa Creek has a 17Z square mile drainage basin at this <br /> <br /> <br />location. Records are available for the period of 1940 through September 1980, <br /> <br /> <br />with additional records available intermittently during 1911 through 19Z8. The <br /> <br /> <br />gage records are considered by the USGS to be "good" except for winter months <br /> <br /> <br />which are "poor." There are no significant diversions upstream of gage. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Junction Creek near Durango <br />The gaging station site is located about four miles upstream from the <br />mouth of Junction Creek, four miles northwest of Durango. Junction Creek <br />has a Z6 square mile drainage basin at the gage location. Records are available <br />for the period of October 1959 through September 1965. The gage records are <br />considered by the USGS to be "fair" (less than 15 percent en-or) except for winter <br />months which are "poor." There are no significant diversions upstream of the <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />gage. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Animas River at DuranRO <br /> <br /> <br />The gaging station is located about one mile upstream from the mouth <br /> <br /> <br />of Lightner Creek in Durango, in Section ZO, Township 35 North, Range 9 West. <br /> <br /> <br />The Animas River at Durango has a 69Z square mile drainage basin. Records <br /> <br /> <br />are available for the Durango gaging station since 1897. Records are considered <br /> <br /> <br />by the USGS to be "good," but flows are affected by diversions for irrigation <br /> <br /> <br />of about 4,ZOO acres upstream of the gaging station, operation of Electra Lake, <br /> <br /> <br />and diversions for municipal use. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />LiRhtner Creek Near DurallRO <br /> <br /> <br />The gaging station site is located one-half mile upstream from the conflu- <br /> <br />ence with the Animas River in Durango, in Section 30, Township 35 North, <br /> <br /> <br />Range 9 West. Lightner Creek has a 66 square mile drainge area at the gage <br /> <br />-4- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~",., <br />
