GAGE RECORDS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Electra Lake Starasl:e and Cascade Creek Diversions <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado-Ute Electric Association, Inc. operates the Tacoma hydroelectric <br /> <br /> <br />station near the Animas River, located 16 miles north of Durango. Water is <br /> <br /> <br />diverted from Cascade Creek, an Animas River tributary, and stored in Electra <br /> <br /> <br />Lake for delivery through a two mile pipeline and penstock to the power house. <br /> <br />Colorado-Ute has maintained records of historic reservoir storage as listed <br /> <br /> <br />in Appendix A. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Animas River above Tacoma <br /> <br /> <br />The gaging station site is located about three miles north of Tacoma and <br /> <br /> <br />16 miles north of Durango in Section 8, Township 38 North, Range 8 West. The <br /> <br /> <br />Animas River at this site has a 348 square mile drainage area. Records are <br /> <br /> <br />considered to be "good" except for winter months which are "fair." River flows <br /> <br /> <br />at the site are affected by diversions aroWld the gage on Cascade Creek for <br /> <br /> <br />power generation at the Tacoma hydroelectric power plant. Records are available <br /> <br />for the period of October 1945 through September 1956. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Falls Creek near Durango <br />The gaging station site is located about' six miles north of Durango in <br />Section 2.1, Township 36 North, Range 9 West, with a seven square mile drainage <br />basin. The period of record was October 1959 through September 1965. The <br />gage records are reported by the USGS to be "good," which indicates that the <br />error in the daily records is believed to be less than 10 percent. There are small <br />diversions for irrigation upstream of the gage. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Animas River at Howardsville <br />The gaging station site is located about five miles southeast of Silverton <br />in Section 12., Township 41 North, Range 7 West. The Animas River has a 56 <br />square mile drainage basin at this location. The period of record was October <br />1935 through 1984. Gage records at the Howardsville site are reported by the <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br />. <br />
