The average assessed value thereof is <br /> <br />quite low, about $400 per farm.. Little of the land has been <br /> <br />;> <br /> <br />leveled for irrigation and in view of the rolling topography it is <br /> <br />doubtful if much ~111 ever need be leveled. The land can be irri- <br /> <br />gated in its present condition for most crops raised. <br /> <br />Mortgages. County records for the period 1926 to 1938 <br /> <br />show that 32 farms, or slightly less than 201- of all farms on the <br /> <br />project; are mortgaged. This is an unusually low proportion of <br /> <br />mortgaged farms in any developed community. The average amount of <br /> <br />the mortgages is about 58 percent of the appraised value of the land <br /> <br />mortgaged. <br /> <br />Taxes.
