Combined, these <br /> <br />accomplishments represent about 37 percent of the total <br />onfarm Grand Valley project goal. <br />Off-farm lateral improvements for 1988 consisted of 2.5 <br />miles of pipeline improvements. Total off-farm lateral <br />accomplishments for the project are 45 miles of pipeline and <br />11.1 miles of ditch lining, representing 30 percent of the <br />overall off-farm project goal. <br />The total USDA program to date has reduced the annual <br />seepage and deep percolation by 9,890 acre-feet and reduced <br />the salt load by an estimated 33,450 tons per year. <br />There are approximately 600 acres of wetland and <br />wildlife habitat improvements planned by participants to <br /> <br />replace values foregone from installation of salinity control <br /> <br />practices. <br /> <br />This is about 50 percent of the overall <br /> <br />replacement goal. Of the total acres planned, approximately <br /> <br />200 acres are included in the CRSC contracts signed in fiscal <br /> <br />years 1987 and 1988. About 150 acres of the wetland and <br /> <br />wildlife habitat improvements have been implemented. <br />Las vegas Wash (Reclamation) - The estimated salt load <br />reduction from the 3.5 mile pittman bypass pipeline of 7,000 <br /> <br />tons per year is being reevaluated. <br /> <br />A final report on <br /> <br />salinity control activities in the Wash is being prepared and <br /> <br />work is being discontinued since no cost-effective salinity <br />control measures have been identified. <br /> <br />-10- <br />
