Gaging Station.< <br />The Administration, at its meeting on November 14, 1949. <br />adopted a resolution requesting the Director of the United States <br />Geological Survey, pursuant to the provisions of Article VIII G (2) <br />of the Compact to allot sufficient funds for fiscal year ending June <br />30, 1951, and from year to year thereafter for the purpose of in- <br />stalling, maintaining and operating gaging stations required for proper <br />administration of the Compact. The following existing and proposed <br />gaging stations were listed in the resolution: <br /> <br />Inflow stations: <br />Arkansas River at Las Animas, Colorado (existing) <br />Purgatoire River at Las Animas, Colorado (existing) <br /> <br />Outflow station: <br />Arkansas River at Caddoa, Colorado (existing) <br /> <br />State line stations: <br />Arkansas River at Holly, Colorado (existing) <br />Holly Drain at Holly, Colorado (existing) <br />Arkansas River at Coolidge, Kansas (proposed) <br />Frontier Ditch at Coolidge, Kansas (proposed) <br /> <br />In designating the State line stations it was anticipated by the <br />Administration that when constructed and properly rated the pro' <br />posed stations at Coolidge would replace those at Holly for official <br />determinations of State line flow. <br />As requested by resolution of the Administration the Director <br />of the Geological Survey solicited the necessary appropriations from <br />the Congress and with the assistance of Colorado and Kansas this <br />effort to obtain funds was successful. As a result there will be avail, <br />able during the fiscal year 1951, $13,800 for the support of the <br />Compact gaging stations. <br />Since no specific provision for this work had been provided for <br />the fiscal year 1950, the Federal Representative on the Administra- <br />tion released a portion of the funds allotted him for participation in <br />the work of the Administration to carryon the stream gaging work <br />\Inti! the heginning of the 1951 fiscal year.
