Christensen in the absence of <br />Chairman We~ster Otis. <br /> <br />Mr. Edward ,Cook of the Water Resources Council reported on activities <br />of the Wate~ Resources Couneil, covering the recent National Conference <br />on Water, tre National Planning Strategy, Section 80 Study, \~ater for <br />Energy Self,-Sufficiency, National Assessment, and other subj ects. <br /> <br />Semiannual:reports were highlighted. California reported the State's <br />25-year pl~n on water management would be completed about June 1977. <br /> <br />Mr. VernonjValantine of the Colorado River Board of California pre- <br />sented a p~ogress report on the San Diego Gas & Electric Company <br />plans for '!Sundesert Nuclear Plant" to be located near Blythe, California. <br /> <br />i <br />Mr. RobertiFarrer of the Arizona Water Commission reported on Arizona's <br />Water Proj~ct Activities. <br /> <br />A report 01 southern Nevada water supply and water quality problems was <br />presented qy Mr. Theodore ~hitmoyer Ot the Division of Colorado River <br />Resources, iLas Vegas, Nevada. <br /> <br />Progress r~ports were received on the National Assessment. <br /> <br />Mr. Al Krous, Chairman of the Water Management Technical Subcommittee, <br />summarizedlhis committee's activities. The possibility of a task force <br />to prepare I a report on the application of stochastic methods to evaluate <br />water reso\1rces is being considered for FY 1976. <br /> <br />Mr. Lyle Kfubben, Chairman of the Vegetation Management Subcommittee, <br />reported tj,e pro!\ress on FY 1975 work items. One of their 1976 work <br />items will:!be to continue to assist the Water Management Subcommittee <br />in prepararion of a State of the Art report on weather modification. <br /> <br />I <br />Mr. Warrenl J. Cole, chairman of the Executive Subcommittee (replacing <br />Mr. Wayne racRostie who transferred to another assignment), reported <br />that four of the seven identified work items in its report "Program <br />Needs Conc~rning Water Supply of the Colorado River" were recommended <br />for furthe~ action: <br />i <br />(1) Assignment to the Consortium of Hater Institutes and Centers (CWIC) <br />to examine: the potential adverse effects on existing economies of the <br />transfer o;f water from present agricultural uses to energy development <br />or other ~se, and means of alleviating these effects. Each State was <br />asked to s'ubmi t a report for consideration to be given to CHIC for <br />evaluatio~. <br /> <br />10 <br />
