<br />San Juan-Chama <br />Water Accounting <br />Albuquerque Area Office <br />August 1996 <br /> <br />The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of August was computed <br />to be 340 acre-feet (af) as shown in Table 3, There were 1180 af net San Juan- <br />Chama (SJ-C) losses. as shown in Table 2. There were 70 af of diversions through <br />Azotea Tunnel this month. <br /> <br />There was a total of 300 af of Natural (RG) released from Heron. of which 150 AF <br />was seepage. There was 2960 AF of SJ-C water released from Heron. <br /> <br />There was 2.29 inches of precipitation at Heron Reservoir. which is 85% of the <br />August (running) average of 2.69 inches. The monthly computations for Heron <br />Reservoir are summarized in Tables 1-3. <br /> <br />From El Vado. 33.370 AF was released by Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District <br />(MRGCD) to pay back the City of Albuquerque (City) in Abiquiu for water borrowed <br />for irrigation. A total of 2962 AF inflow of uncontracted 1996 allocation was <br />transferred from Heron to MRGCD in El Vado leaving 198 AF remaining uncontracted <br />water. <br /> <br />From Abiquiu. a total of 33.479 AF was released; all of which was loaned by the <br />City to MRGCD to meet irrigation demands. <br /> <br />Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 412 AF. Evaporation <br />loss on the reservoir was 32 AF, Table 4 summarizes San Juan-Chama water at <br />Otowi . <br /> <br />Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at Abiquiu and Jemez <br />Canyon Reservoirs. and Cochiti Lake are presented in Tables 5A-5C. Storage and <br />evaporation of Rio Grande water in El Vado and Abiquiu Reservoirs are shown in <br />Table 6. <br /> <br />All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data are collected and <br />analyzed. <br />
