SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATIONS

After careful examination and analysis of the above described

data, it was the wl'iters' opinion, expressud in a preliminary re-

port to the Director of the Water Conservation Board, that in-

sufficient geologic and soils investigation had been made at the

Weld County Situs to make a valid comparison with the Narrows

" Site. A moderate amount of additional worl: in the Weld County

area was authorized hy the Water Conservation Boord, including

earth borrow investigations, a few dl'ill holes and surface

geologic reconnaissancu. From this work, and after discussions

with members of the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation and a represent-

ative of The Riverside Irrigation District, the decision was made

that more comprehensive investigations were justified and that

I the investigations should 1)0 concentrated on the lower Weld County
,I

site. This final stage included foundation drilling along the pro-

posed axis, permeability studies and a sei@oic survey in the axis

arua. A sununary of the investigations performed after December 15,

1963." is shown below:

1. Borrow Investications

Fifty-three holus drilled within nine miles radius of

the lower Weld County Axis, Ten million cubic yards of

suitable impervious earth borrow outlined.
