The data on the Narrows Axis is the most complete aad ac-

curate of all the sites as it is based on extensive, detailed

surveys and investigations by the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation.

Data for other sites was developed from topography on U. S.

GlOologic Survey Quadrangle sheets. For final investigations au

the lower Weld County site an axis line was surveyed by the U. S.

Bureau of Reclamation.

EXTENT OF EARLIER INVESTIGATIONS

Narrows Axis

A very thorough and complete investigation was carried out

on the Narrows site, including the drilling of 1II0re than 150 drill
"

holes and wash borings, extensive materials exploration and test-

ing, and seepage studies.

Weld County, upper Axis

Three holes were drilled along this axis. No materials in-

vestiga tions were made other than gener al sUl'face l' econnaissance.

No seepage studies were made.

W~ld County, lower Axis

Four holes were drilled by the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation

on or in the g-eneral area of this proposed axis.

In addition,

data was obtained from three water well test holes drilled in the

general area of the left abutment. These furnished only general

information as to bedrock elevation. No materials investigations

were made nor any seepage studies.

Osborne A."ds

No dl'illing was performed all this axis. Geologic conditions

had to be judged on the projection of data from dr ill holes and

water test holes located between this axis and the Weld County
