In the Lake Havasu reservoir area 216,24 acres <br />were acquired from the State of California and approval was given <br />thc U, S, Department of lllterior to condemn two parcels in private <br />ownership. At Lake Mathews a 5-acre parcel was bought in the <br />northwest section of the reservoir area, At the north portal of <br />the Hollywood tLllmel a 5.25.,wre site for a small regulating reser. <br />voir was acqLlirerl and an art joining lot with house was bought to <br />be used as a residence [or the diviHioJ1 foreman on the Santa Monica <br />feeder. <br />Sales of District land were as follows; 90 acres northeast of <br />Lake Mathews and ontside the approved reservoir area: 23,58 <br />acres along Vnl\'erde tunnel. reserving necessary easements for <br />District operations: 4,27 acreS of the camp and dnmp area at San <br />Jacinto tunnel west portal to an adjoining owner: 0.49 acre of a <br />lnrger Ix,rcel acquired for the spur track to the softening and filtra- <br />tion plant; and two small parcels north of Pudding-stone reservoir <br />to the Los Angeles County Flood Control District for flood control <br />channek A small piece of District property in the Lake Havasu <br />area waS deeded to the State of California for highway ,."Iocation <br />near Topock. <br />As in the past reverse leases were continued on District right <br />of way and new rever~e leases were made on 110 acres north of <br />Lake Mathews and 175 acres south of the lake for dry farming, <br />Both parcels are outside the fenced portion of the reservoir area. <br />The leasc on the LIpper four floors and basement of the Metropoli- <br />tan Water District Building was renewed for a term of five years. <br />An easement was granted the California Elcctric Power Company <br />across the main aqueduct right of way for construction of a power <br />transmission line to Twent,v-Nine Palms. Two eHsernent agree- <br />ments were completed between the District and the State of Cali- <br />fornia Highway Division covering the const.1'uetion of free'.vays in <br />Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Negotiations were carried <br />on with l\nd approved b,' the Indian tribes of the Colorado River <br />Indian Rcservation for the transfer to San Bernardino County of <br />
