Automotive repair parts <br />were continually being purchHsed hut many necessary parts have <br />not been obtHinable for some time. Tractor repair parts were <br />usually available, Tires have constantly been in demand due to <br />the severity of desert. use and District needs have been supplied <br />only after much shopping, <br />Maintenance supplies such as pipe and fittings, small valves, <br />meter and instrument parts, electrical fittings, materials for trans- <br />mission and telephone lines, refrigerator and electric range repair <br />parts, and office supplies, were generally obtainable after diligent <br />search, Foodstuffs for the messhall at Gene Camp, including fresh <br />vegetables and fruit, meats, and poultry, were mainly shipped from <br />Los Angeles; dHiry products were obtained in Riverside County and <br />Parker. Arizona; Hnd some fresh meat also WHS purchased in <br />Arizona, <br />Tbe purchase from surplus stocks of the Uuited States of a <br />tractor with dozer and winch, 15 tons of miscellaneous steel, and <br />310 tons of chemicals for water softening, effected a saving of more <br />than $2,800 due to the sale prices, Hlready below current ceiling <br />prices, being subject to a 40 per cellt discount for sales to a public <br />water utility. <br />Sales for cash of aqueduct construction equipment and materiHls <br />remaining in salvage stocks amount.ed to $26,803.39 during the <br />tiscal year. The value of materials transferred from salvage to <br />District operation and maintenance features was $9,230.00.
