As <br />maintenance of the water surface at these levels interferes with <br />the u,;e of the reservoir for flood control and water conservation <br />purposes, provision is made that payments from the Flood Control <br />District be reduced from $20,000 to $15,000 annually when the <br />water level is maintained at 1130 feet and suspended entirely when <br />maintained at 1152 feet. <br />Provision is also made for delivery of water from the District's <br />aqueduct to the San Gabriel Valley Protective Association equiva- <br />lent to that which would have been conserved for the Association <br />in the absence of the Navy contract, <br />At the request of the Nav)' Department tbe water surface eleva- <br />tion has been maintained at or above elevation 1152 except for <br />the period from January 15, 1946 to January 29, 1946 when the <br />water surface was gradually lowered to elevation 1143, Since <br />this lowering was at the request of the Navy in order to dewater a <br />construction operation, no reduction was made in the daily rate <br />of $342,00, Payments from the Navy for the period from October <br />1,1945 to June 30, 1946 amounted to $93,366.00, No pa)"ment waS <br />due from the Flood Control District by reason of the terms of the <br />agreement. - - - - -- <br /> <br />Cunsf-nrctiun of the di.~t.1"il)/di{)lI system <br /> <br />Construction Of the distribution system to supply softened and <br />filtered Colorado River water to the thirteen original constituent <br />areas was completed in July 1941. The first expansion of the <br />system consisted of an extension of the Orange County pipe line <br />southerly from the Cit)" of Santa Ana to serve Coastal Municipal <br />Water District. This work was completed in February 1944.
