Additions and bettennents

The return of men from the armed services and the increasing
ratio of married men to single men at Gene camp caused a serious
housing shortage. To alleviate this situation the two 20-man
bunkhouses at Gene, formerly used during construction, were made

A new agreement as to the resale, generation and transmission
of District unused firm energy at Boulder Dam and the use of Dis.
trict energy from the Parker power plant was consummated during
the year and became effective as of June 1, 1945 running until
May 31, 1987, Tbis agreement is embodied in three contracts
known respectively as the District's 1945 Resale Contract, the
1945 Collateral Contract, and the District-Edison Transmission
Contract.
The District's 1945 Resale Contract, executed by the Secretary
of the Interior, the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, the City
of Los Angeles, the Southern California Edison Company, Lim.
ited, the California Electric Power Company, and the Metropolitan

ment remaining unused by the District and not resold by previous
contracts will be taken and paid for 55 per cent by the City of Los
Angeles, 40 per cent by the Edison Company, and five per cent
by the California Electric Power Company. The rate to be paid
for the credit of the District is the rate for firm energy in effect
for the year the energy is taken, except that during the first five
years the following percentages of tbe firm rates will be paid:
first year, 40 per cent; second year, 50 per cent; third year, 65
per cent; fourth year, 80 per cent; fifth year, 95 per cent.
The District agrees to operate its pumping system so as to leave
unused the maximum amount of Boulder energy, but retains the
right to use any part or all of its allotment as desired. During the
