A contract was awarded on <br />December 31, 1948 for construction <br />of the dam. It was 10 percent com- <br />plete on June 30, 1949. <br /> <br />BIXBY UNIT <br /> <br />Description: Bixby Dam, a conservation and control structure, <br />will be located a short distance below the confluence of the north and <br />south forks of the Noreau River about 35 miles northwest of the TOIffi <br />of Faith, South Dakota. The reservoir will have 84,000 acre-feet of <br />conservation storage to furnish irrigation water supply for about <br />11,700 acres between Bixby Dam and Green Grass Dam. Of the remaining <br />capacity, there will be 8,000 acre-feet allocated to silt control, <br />102,000 acre-feet allocated to flood control, and 282,000 aere-feet <br />of super storage to reduce the maximum spillway requirements.
