HOW CAN FARMERS OBTAIN PROJECT WATER?

By signing a petition to purchase water
from the Dolores Water Conservancy Dis-
trict. The amount of water received will
depend upon the irrigable acreage the
farmer owns within the boundaries of the
District, with a maximum limit set by
Reclamation policy. Shareholders in the
Montezuma Valley Irrigation Company will
petition directly to the Company for
supplemental water.

WILL THE PROJECT CHANGE
FARMING METHODS?

Yes. In the Dove Creek area, the project
water supply and facilities will be de-
signed to convert dry land farms to
sprinkler irrigation. The owners will
have a period of 5 years after the water
is available to prepare their land for
irrigation. As a result of the project,
the cropping pattern will probably change.

Farming methods will not change in the
Montezuma Valley area. The farmers will
have more water in the late growing sea-
son than is now available and a suffic-
ient supply during the entire irrigation
growing season.
