WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE MVI SYSTEM?

The MVI's diversion dam, Main Canal No.
2, tunnel, and 1.3 miles of the East
and West Laterals near the tunnel will
be replaced by project facilities admin-
istered by the Dolores Water Conservancy
District. Water supplies for the MVI will
be delivered through these project fac-
ilities by the District. All other MVI
facilities will be unchanged and will
remain fully under the control of the
MVI.

WILL MUNICIPAL AND INDUSTRIAL
WATER BRING RAPID GROWTH?

No. The project area will probably
grow at about the same rate as the long-
term historical average. The project
water supply has been designed to meet
this rate of growth until the year 2030,
or about 50 years. With full development,
the water supply would be--

Cortez 6,200 acre-feet
Dove Creek 600 "
Towaoc 1,000 "
Rural areas 900 "
Total 8,700 acre-feet
