WILL FARMERS BE REQUIRED
TO BUY IRRIGATION WATER?

No. Farmers in the Dove Creek and
Montezuma Valley areas may continue to
farm as they have in the past. Those
who now irrigate will retain their exist-
ing water rights, regardless of whether
or not they purchas~ project water.

HOW MUCH WILL THE WATER COST?

The price of water will depend upon the
farmer's ability to pay. The latest
estimates for the annual costs of the
water, including operation, maintenance,
and replacement costs, are--

Dove Creek
Montezuma Valley area

$8.10 per acre-foot
$4.90 per acre-foot

In addition, each irrigator will pay an
account charge regardless of the acre-
age owned. This fee will be $50 annually
for each owner in the Dove Creek area
and $10 annually for each owner in the
Montezuma Valley area.
