The cost of removing buildings within the reser-
voir is included in the estimates for rights of way.
Construction Materials
Embankment. materials are available at or near the site,
and should present no difficulties, with the possible exception
o:f rock for riprap. However, the dam will not require riprap
of a first-class charact.er such as a dam which constantly impounds
water, and the rock in the highway cut and in the vicinity will
probably suffioe. Tests on a few samples of gravel from State
highway borrow pits were not entirely satisfaotory, but with some
exploration and washing suitable aggregate can probably be found
in the vicinity.
Cement is estimated to cost the GOV8rnn~nt $2.60 a
barrel at Sopris, Colorado.
Construction Schedule and Facilities
A large volume of all classes of work is required for the
project. It is assumed the various phases of work will be carried
on simultaneously, thus utilizing all materials to the best advan-
tage in construction without stock-piling, etc. Owing to the
danger of flash floods and diversion problems, this project should
be completed as quickly as possible without a long construction
schedule. Two seasons are sufficient time to complete the work,

with the main dam to be completed to a safe height between an

.
