O~1839
.

.

.

traoks. An 811 oast iron pipe line connects this plant with

reservoirs at COkedale well above the 6300 contour. Water can

be delivered at the rste of 215 gallons per minute from either

the well or the city pipe line to which connection is made. This

unit is electrically driven and supplies domestic and industrial

water.

State Highway No. l2 traverses the valley little above

streambed level except at Reilly canyon where an overhead structure

crosses the D. & R. G. W. track. This is an oil surfaced highway

of recent construction.

In all, there are 42 buildings in the reservoir site and

one lOO grave cemetery at elevation 6210 near the mouth of the

Long'S canyon.

Generally, the land within the reservoir is classed as

grazing with some snlall farms, the largest of which is the Saddle

Rock Farm operated to supply fresh produce for Trinidad.

Las Animas County assessor'srecords show assessed values

of various lands in the reservoir area as follows:

Irrigated
Non-irrigated
Grazing

$30 per acre
$lO per acre
$ 3 per acre

In estimating right of way costs allowance is made for

severances and an area of 2700 acres is included at $20 per acre

resulting in a total cost of $54,000.

Relocation of railroads utilities and other improvements

is not inoluded here but will be discussed later.

56
