<br />Five agreements for land treatment and structural measures at
<br />the Navajo Dam larrd and wildlife management project were exe-
<br />cuted by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish and the
<br />Bureau of Land Management. The improvements under these
<br />agreements consist 0'1 brush eradication and seeding to improve
<br />forage on 1,300 acres; development of five water-retention basins;
<br />construction of specIalized enclosures for forage use studies; and
<br />fencing to permit rotation of livestock grazing. 'rhe New Mexico
<br />department has initiated detailed planning for the land and manage-
<br />ment measures required for the project area north of the reservoir
<br />area.
<br />To complement other programed wildlife management measures
<br />the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife requested the Bnreau of
<br />Land Management to withdraw 7,166 acres of public domain at the
<br />Ourecanti unit and S80 acres at the Emery Oounty project for re-
<br />spective big game and waterfowl development purposes.

<br />PUBLIC RECREATION FACILITIES
<br />
<br />Water, sewer, and power systems have been completed at Lucerne
<br />Valley in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.. The Lu-
<br />cerne Valley access road and parking area were completed in fiscal
<br />year 1963. An access road, boat-launching ramp, employee resi-
<br />dences, and a water system at Antelope Flat, Utah, under construction
<br />at the time of the last report, have been completed. A watcr and
<br />sewer system have been completed at Dutch John, Utah, where work
<br />on campground and picnic facilities, five comfort stations, employee'
<br />housing, and a rl1nger-contact station is well underway and sbould be
<br />completed in fiscal year 1 965. Work is in progress on two residences
<br />and Wl1ter I1nd sewet. systems at Manila, Utah. Boat-launching
<br />rl1mps on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir have been provided at Buck--
<br />board Orossin", Firehble Oanyon, Brinegar Ranch, and Holmes Ferry.
<br />At Orawfora Reservoir in Oolorado, where basic recreation facilities
<br />have been completed, additional construction is underway on an office-
<br />utility building which:will be completed in fiscal year 1965.
<br />Oonstruction is underway on an office-utility building, water supply
<br />and distribution systems, sanitary facilities; 4 comfort stations, 14
<br />camping and picnic shelters, 50 camping and picnic sites, access and
<br />circulatory roads, parking areas, and a boat.:.launching ramp at Fon~-
<br />tenelle Reservoir in Wyoming. These projects will be completed in
<br />fiscal year 1965. , .
<br />At Wahweap, in the Arizona portion of Glen Oanyon National Rec-.
<br />reation Area, work On buoys and navigational aids and two comfort
<br />stations was completed during the year. The picnic area develop-
<br />Inent and shelter, 11; comfort station, seasonal quarters, employee.
<br />residences, pit toilets,: parking areas, a boat-launching ramp, marina,
<br />beach, and access road in the Wahweap area were completed in fiscal
<br />year 1963. Oonstruction of a repair shop and firehouse is underway.
<br />At Lees Ferry, Ariz., Ii comfort station, portable comfort stations, and
<br />the sewer system have been constructed. The boat-launching ramps,
<br />at Bullfrog Basin, U~ah, at Halls' Orossing, Utah, and Lees Ferry
<br />area have been completed and a ranger station and utility building:
<br />are well underway at Bullfrog Basin.
