It also includes negotiations <br />With localmterests leadmg to executIOn of repayment contracts. <br />The definite: plan report on the Bonneville umt of the central Utah <br />project is nearling completion and work progressed on reports on the <br />Upalco and Jehsen units, which are scheduled for completion in fiscal <br />years 1965 an4 1967, respectively. <br />Quality of )"ater studies were continued in the Upper Colorado <br />River Basin a$ authorized by law. <br />, <br /> <br />FISH AND -WILDLIFE DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br />In cooperatlon with the Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming <br />Fish and Gamr Departments, the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wild- <br />life stocked 61 million rainbow trout and 2 million largemouth bass <br />fingerlings in Lake Powell, Flaming Gorge, and Navajo Reservoirs to <br />meet jointly e~tablishd fishery management objectives. " ' , ' <br />Fishery investigations were initiated at Flaming Gorge Reservoir <br />and Lake Po~ell by the Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming Fish and Game <br />Departments.' These 6-year studies, to be completed in fiscal year <br />1969, will guide management measures during the initial years of <br />reservoir impoundment. The similar study initiated in 1963 at <br />NavajoRese~voirby the New Mexico Department of, Game and <br />IJ'ish was con~inued, as well as the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and <br />Wildlife's stu<jlY to assess the downstream effects of Flaming Gorge <br />Dam closure "Ind the rough fish control operation of September 1962. <br />Plans for improved fishing access on the Gunnison River and its <br />tributaries ab(lve Blue Mesa Reservoir were developed by the Bureau <br />oiSport' Fisheries and Wildlife and the Oolorado Department of <br />Game, Fish, 'lnd Parks, Potential easement areas that would open <br />'18 miles of stj'eam to free publie fishing were appraised for possible <br />acquisition.. : <br />The Bureanof Sport Fisheries and Wildlife acquired additional land <br />'at the Flamin$ Gorge unit for both big~a!TIe and water(owl pUlJloses. <br />The 886 acres pbtamed are on the Green IHver near theUt..h-Oolorado <br />State line andl include direct flow rights 'and a 1,,16Q acre,foot storage <br />right., Planning was initiated on related fencing, viater development, <br />and range rehabilitation measures by the Utah State 'Department of <br />Fish and Game. <br />
