<br />001817 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />with the Kansas Water Resources Board in a reconnaissance investi- <br /> <br />gation to develop a State plan for optimum development of the land <br /> <br />and water resources of the State in harmony with the policy of the <br /> <br />State Legislature. The study will consist of a broad investigation <br /> <br />of potential industrial and agricultural growth; population expansion; <br /> <br />and the water requirements and use of these potentials. <br /> <br />The studies to be conducted by the Bureau of Reclamation will <br /> <br />be accomplished by Regions 5 and 7. The southern portion of the <br /> <br />State including the Lower Arkansas River Basin and its tributaries <br /> <br />will be studied by Region 5. The northern portion, which includes <br /> <br />the Kansas River Basin, the Upper Arkansas River Basin, the Marais des <br /> <br />Cygnes River Basin, the Nemaha River Basin, and their tributaries, <br /> <br />will be studied by Region 7. Coordination will be required between the <br /> <br />two regions and with the Kansas Water Resources Board to develop a <br /> <br />plan in accordance with the State Water Plan. The details of the <br /> <br />studies and criteria used will also have to be coordinated among <br /> <br />the interested agencies. This report, Interim Report No, 2, is an <br /> <br />important step in that coordination process. <br /> <br />The investigations will be presented in three reports: Interim <br /> <br />Report No.1, Interim Report No.2, and the Reconnaissance Report. <br /> <br />Interim Report No. 1 is basically a bibliography of available <br />data relating to the natural resources of Y~nsas and summarizing <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2 <br />
