<br />'. <br /> <br />G01828 <br /> <br />The Kansas Water Resources Board has been very active in c.ollec- <br /> <br />ting municipal and industrial yater use data and has considerable <br /> <br />information on file and partially analyzed. Also, the Water Resources <br /> <br />Board has analyzed and studied crop patterns and irrigation yater <br /> <br />requirements over the entire state. Because of the availability of <br /> <br />the data, the experience of State personnel, and the interest of the <br /> <br />State in unit yater requirements, both M&I and Agricultural, the <br /> <br />primary responsibility for this york is assigned to the Kansas Water <br /> <br />Resources Board. <br /> <br />The determination of unit water requirements should be completed <br /> <br />by about March 1969 to enable Kansas State University and the <br /> <br />Kansas Water Resources Board to Use them to predict future water <br /> <br />requirements. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of the economic base study and the land classi- <br /> <br />fication surveys the yater requirements for various study areas (counties, <br /> <br />SMSA's, and/or sub-basins) yill be summarized and analyzed. <br /> <br />Water quality control. The attention that is currently being <br /> <br />focused on pollution control emphasizes the importance of considering <br /> <br />the needs for this function. The thermal, organic, and inorganic <br /> <br />problem areas will need to be identified and the requirements for con- <br /> <br />trol evaluated.
