Supplemental studies will also be <br />made by the University in those sectors where relevant basic data <br />are not now available. The basic area unit will be the individual <br />counties. These may be grouped into either standard metropolitan <br /> <br />statistical areas, or into trade areas,' in a mutually agreeablp manner. <br /> <br />The economic activities of the State of Kansas are tied to the activ- <br />ities of the remainder of the Nation and in certain instances to other <br /> <br />nations because of trading relations and competition. The study <br /> <br />will include an analysis of these interrelationships as they influence <br />the economic future of Kansas. In the event that a partieular commodity <br /> <br />or resource becomes a limiting factor, consideration will be given to <br /> <br />the importation of this item as is economically feasible. Data to be <br />evaluated will include, but will not be limited to, population, <br />employment, income, production, and value of production. <br /> <br /> <br />The University is scheduled to have the first draft of the final <br /> <br /> <br />economic base study report prepared by April 1, 1969.
