And your orator further shows that by the Treaty of Guadalupe

Hida~o, ratified by the Senate of the United States on or about

to wit, the 30th. day of May, A. D. 1848, and which became opera-

tive by the necessary exchanges bet\wen the two governments on or

about the 30th. day of July, A, D. 1848, the Department of New

Mexico, includi~ the above described tract of land, together with

all the rights of the said Republic of Mexico, were ceded to the

Government of the United States, and by the provisions of said

treaty, and more especially Article VIII thereof, tne Government

of the United States 9greed to recognize and protect all private

rights and titles (includiGg the r:it;hts and titles of the grantors

of your orator) in existence at the date of the cediItg of said

Territory or Department of New Mexico.

And your orator further shows that pursuant to the provisions

of said treaty and by Act of Congress entitled .An Act to confirm

certain private land claims in the Territory of New Mexico~.

approved June 21st. A. D. 1860, the Government of the United

confirmed the said tract of land hereinbefore described to Charles

Beaubien the grantor of your orator. And your orator further shows

that by said act of Congress the Government of the United States

conveyed all its property rights of every kind and nature, in and

to said tract of land and every part and parcel thereof to

Charles Beaubien~ and that prior to said act of

the title of said tract of land to Charles Beaubien the said Char-

les Beaubien by inheritanoe and by divers meane conveyances for
