<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />WATER QUALITY <br /> <br />Outcome <br /> <br />Test results found that most water quality parameters did <br />not exceed State standards, For example, no exceedences <br />were noted for irrigation, livestock, and wildlife habitat <br />standards, and no parameters exceeded short-term fishery <br />standards, Municipal and industrial water supply and <br />secondary contact uses do not have any associated <br />standards, <br /> <br />However, several parameters exceeded the chronic fishery <br />and river segment standards, For example, the high-quality <br />coldwater fishery standard from Navajo Dam to the <br />Highway 64 bridge at Blanco, New Mexico, was exceeded <br />for total organic carbon and conductivity, In addition, fecal <br />coliform samples exceeded the standard at the sites above <br />the Highway 44 bridge in Bloomfield and at the Geological <br />Survey (GS) gauge in Farmington below the confluence of <br />the San Juan and Animas Rivers. <br /> <br />In general, Reclamation projects that during long-term flows <br />of 250 cfs in the irrigation season some exceedence of State <br />standards for the San Juan River between Navajo Dam and <br />the Animas River confluence could occur, <br /> <br />The NMDGF is continuing analysis of the water quality <br />from samples it collected during the Test, and Reclamation <br />will include that information, as appropriate, in the EIS, In <br />addition, the New Mexico Environmental DepartmentJ <br />Surface Water Quality Bureau is beginning studies in the <br />San Juan River Basin to address water quality concerns, <br /> <br />Summer Low Flow Test Report - April 2002 <br /> <br />-11- <br /> <br />ir ,- ~.n.:,\ <br />", . .
