The section of the Arkansas River Channelization Project from the <br /> <br />mouth of Timpas Creek to the local protection project at La Junta (a length <br /> <br />of approximatel 7 miles) be authorized for construction for flood control <br /> <br />and allied purposes should the Chief of Engineers decide that such construc- <br /> <br />tion would be warranted at the time the plan for the study recommended in <br /> <br />paragraph 31 Q. above. has been formulated; all generally in accordance <br /> <br />with the plan of the reporting officers, and with such modifications thereof <br /> <br />as in the discretion of the Chief of Engineers may be advisable, at an esti- <br /> <br />':~:'.. . <br />(~/'{:. <br /> <br />mated cost to the United States of $2.400.000 for construction (excludes <br /> <br />$1,800,000 for land and other items to be furnished by local interests). <br /> <br />The Board report is being processed to the Chief of Engineers. who in <br /> <br />turn will transmit his proposed report, together with the reports of the <br /> <br />Board and the reporting officers, to the Governors of the affected States <br /> <br />and to interested Federal agencies for their views and comments.
