To determine water requirements and mitigation
procedures for water impacts accompanying mineral
resource development.

3. To determine feasibility for development of geo-
thermal resources in Colorado and economic, govern-
mental, and technical factors that will govern their
deve lopmen t.

4. PROGRN1S: CIlNERAL FUELS SECTION

Program Title: Coal Resource Inventory and Evaluation (Enabling Act, 1967:
II to inventory and analyze the 5 ta te I s mineral resources. . ")

Target Public:

Entire population of the State of Colorado.

purpose:

Provide technical input relative to significant resources
of high quaLity, low-sulfur coal in Colorado to planners
and decision-makers in State and local governmental agencies,
industry, and the general public. Coal resource data
(quantity, quality, location, rnineability, and use, ete),
industry development plans, and the like are essential for
an adequate evaluation and resolutian of conflicts arising
between maintenance of the quality of our enviro~~ent and
the de~elopment of the resource. State coal policy and
State input into Federal coal-related policies are dependent
1.'pon accurate and up-to-date coal resource base line data.

34
