..,

JJJ331

Program Ti tle:

Oil and Gas
Act, 1967:
resource.

Resource Inventory and Evaluation (Enabling
liTo inventory and analyze the State's mineral
,")

Target Public: Entire population of the State of Colorado.

Purpose: Provide technical input relative to the significant
..~l:sources cf both oil and gas in Colorado to planners
arid decision-makers in State and local governmental
agencies, industry, and the general public. Data on
currently producing fields (e.g. remaining producible
reserves, volumes of petroleum potentially recoverable
by enhanced recove.y technology, etc.) will assist in
predicting future revenues from taxes imposed upon
production and equipment. Information regarding those
areas in Colorado potentially productive of oil and/or
gas will (l) assist in planning for both multiple and
sequential use of both State and Federal lands, (2) sti-
mulate more efficient and orderly development of our.petro-
leum reserves, (3) result in improved energy planning and
utilization in the State, (4) improve the discovery
efficiency of industry and therby conserve risk capital,
and (5) enhance the overall economic base of Colorado;

Program Title: Enero,v Mana~ement Data Svstem (Enabling Act, 1967: "To
assist, consult with, and advise. . ,state and local
governmental agencies. . .to promote economic development
of mineral resource. . . to advise the state and act as
liaison agency on transactions dealing with natural re-
sources between state agencies and with otrer states and "the
federat government. .11)

Target Public: Entire population of the State of Colorado.

Purpose: Provide continually updated, accurate, readily available
and understandable information relative to both existing
and future energy project (e.g. type, location, resource
requirement, time tables, scale, etc.) that can be used
to (l). identify potential conflicts in land use, (2) assist
in planning mitigation of potential air and water problems,
(3) provide early warning of fiscal needs in communities
to be impacted by energy development, and (4) assist in
the permitting process, etc.

II. PROG~~MS: MINERAL RESOURCES EXCLUSIVE OF FOSSIL FUELS

Program Title: Non-Fossil Energy Resources -- Uranium and Thorium

Taq;e:t !'"bLic: State and Local governments, citizens as a whole, and
indu::;lry.

Purpose: To inventory, map, and evaluate the State's energy resources
other than the fossil fuels and to provide technical advice
to local gover~ments regarding these resources.

Two specific projects currently in progress to provide basic
resource data on uranium and thorium in Colorado are:

0),1
