A~sist, consult with and advise state and local governmental agencies <br />on geologic problems. <br /> <br />2. Conduct stud~es to develop geologic information. <br /> <br />J. Inventory the State's mineral resources. <br /> <br />4. Promote orderly economic development of the State's mineral resources. <br /> <br />5. Determine areas of geologic hazard that could affect the safety of or <br />cause economic loss to the citizens of Colorado. <br /> <br />6. Collect, preserve, and distribute geologic information. <br /> <br />7. Evaluate physical features of Colorado with reference to present and <br />potential human and animal use. <br /> <br />8. Prepare, publish, and distribute geologic reports, maps, and bulletins. <br /> <br />II. PKOGI~MS: ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENGINEERING GEOLOGY <br /> <br />Program Title: Land use reviews and related technical assistance <br /> <br />Target Public: Planning departments of city and county governments, city <br />and county councils or commissioners, Mined Land Reclama- <br />tion Board, State Building Division, Colorado Department <br />of Health, miscellaneous governmental agencies, and the <br />general public. <br /> <br />Purpo~e: The major purposes are to review and make recommendations <br />for land use planners and decision makers, especially <br />where there are geologic condItions that could cause <br />structural failure and high maintenance costs of State <br />buildings, as well as residential construction. Recom- <br />mendations are made to the Colorado Department of Health <br />and to the counties regarding solid wast disposal, <br />hazardous radioactive solid wast disposal, as well as <br />potelltial exposure to other products dangerous to human <br />health. <br /> <br />33 <br />
