On "~y Srd, the Attorney General rendered his ~Titten opinion

which sustained our announced views of Colorado's obligations under the

provisions of the , Stipulation, and of our ~roposed method of administra-

tion of the nctcrs of the river IThen the reservoir is enpty, and also

approved the agreement proposed to be entered into with ~IT. Knapp for

the administration of the stipulation.

The Attorney Genera~ particularly stressed the importance of

administering the stipulaticn in such manner that no question mey arise

as to the good faith of Colorado in carrying out the terms of the stipu-

lation, and pointed out that a.iJ.y' actIon oifthe part of Colorado v;hich

might thro'O doubt on the intent of Colorado to abide by the stipulation,

would most certainly prejudice the interest of the state in the ?ending

suit, especially at th"t particular time.

Follor.ing the Attorney General's opinion, a meeting was held

on ~ay 17th, ~t Pueblo, which was attended ~ counsel for the ritch

Association, attorney Dreitenstein representing tne Attorney General,

other attorneys and incereEted water users, Mr. Patterson and ~self.
