supplies. etc. The executiv= director 'a compensation wa, set at
not to exceed $25,000. '1'hi'. budget ,<,i1J be presented to the full
council for approval at a r'c eting to be held in November _ n Denver.

The representati' 0S meeting in Boise, 'I'uesday. wi..1 also
reconunend to the full Counul on November 13 the follO\oing p."ogram
for the staff the balance cl' the fiscal year:

Ini tially, the staff w _11 be engaged in three concurrent ~ffort.s:

1. The development )f draft statements of criteria and
assumptions to }:" applied by H.e Council i.n arriving ,.t
its recommendi'ltJ~ms to the Gov'=rnOJ:s. These wiil relot-.e
to matters of er'ri1eering fea",ibility, economic fcasibHity,
political re!3pOIl3i.)ili ty, leg,ll considerat ion and ethi':al
desirability, 'Th., protectiOl\ and furtherance of StatE:

relevant.

2. An j,ntensiv3 revi,,.,, and evaluab_on of the plans ami.
activities of the States and the J?ede:cal Government in
developing C'1rren; and long-rang', estimates of wateI.
needs and "_ater 1:~sources in the eleven contiguous
Western S'~ates ar d related arear,. The review vlill include:

A. Description of content and time schedule for
c0mpletion of I:urrent studLes.

B. Identification of gaps in the information.

C. Suggestion of c:ppropriate 1,leans of correcting the
inadequacies of the informacion.
