<br />(approximately 40-50 miles). Depending on sampling conditions for each <br />trip, a combination of the following sampling gear types will be <br />utilized to catch adult/juvenile fish: boat electrofishing, backpack <br />electrofishing, seining, and trammel nets. During higher flows, boat <br />electrofishing will be utilized for runs and riffles (proceeding in a <br />downstream direction), and where possible in backwaters and eddies. <br />When flows do not permit boat electrofishing, a backpack electrofishing <br />unit will be used to sample the main channel, runs, and riffles <br />(sampling will proceed in an upstream direction), and where possible in <br />backwaters and eddies. Seining and trammel nets will be completed in <br />low-velocity habitats (e.g., backwaters, side channels, etc.), eddies, <br />and riffles not conducive to electrofishing or where capture efficiency <br />(as compared to electrofishing) will not be jeopardized. If possible, <br />at least one sampling method will be used in the same locations during <br />every sampling trip to allow direct comparisons between trips (e.g., <br />trammel netting), All native fishes will be measured (TL in mm), <br />weighed (nearest g), and released; a subsample of nonnative fishes will <br />be measured and weighed and the remaining fish will only be counted. <br />All endangered fish encountered will be PIT-tagged. Nonnative fishes <br />need to be adequately monitored during this survey in the Price River in <br />order to determine if the Price River is a potential source population <br />for nonnative fishes in the Green River. <br /> <br />During the April sampling trip, stations will be established based on <br />geomorphology, habitat, fish distribution, accessibility and logistics. <br />We will chose the stations to provide a representative overview of the <br />river. Two or three stations will be established between Grassy trail <br />Creek and Woodside, UT and 2 stations will be established between <br />Woodside, UT and the confluence with the Green River (one directly below <br />Woodside and one directly upstream from and including the confluence) . <br />After flows have receded and the river is unnavigatable, only the <br />established stations will be monitored each month until September. <br /> <br />Obiective 2. The Price River will be sampled in conjunction with <br />post-spawn adult/juvenile sampling trips. Seining will be conducted in <br />low-velocity areas (e.g., side channels, isolated pools, backwaters) <br />within all the monitoring stations. Light traps will be utilized in the <br />two stations between Woodside, UT and the confluence with the Green <br />River. All age-O fish that can not be identified will be preserved and <br />identified at a later date. <br /> <br />Obiective 3. The lower Price River will be sampled at least monthly <br />from April-September (in conjunction with Objectives 1, 2, and 4) . <br />Additional sampling trips will be completed on the lower Price River <br />during 1) the ascending and descendin9 limb of the spring hydrograph to <br />determine pre- and post-spawn use by mainstem adult endangered fishes <br />and 2) during larval drift periods to determine if larval endangered <br />fishes utilize the lower Price River. If there is no evidence of <br />spawning in the upstream reaches of the Price River, any larval <br />utilization in the lower Price River will be attributed to drift from <br />Deso/Gray. <br /> <br />Obiective 4. Physical habitat attributes will be measured at each <br />monitoring station for each sampling trip. These measurements will <br />include ~) an ocular habitat survey of the entire monitoring reach to <br />identify the range of habitats that exist, potential spawning areas, <br />nursery habitats and potential barriers to movement and 2) measurements <br />of velocity, depth, substrate, water temperature, water clarity and DO. <br />To address additional chemical attributes, water samples will be <br />collected and analyzed from two locations: 1) near Grassy trail Creek <br />and 2) near woodside. These samples will be collected in late summer <br />(e_g,. August or September) during low flows. Chemical standards will <br />be based on EPA water quality standards and information assimilated from <br />the literature (Objective 5). Biological data collected will consist of <br />
