Concepts on how the water could be used in the plant were discussed, and agreement on the study approach were reached with plant personnel. The Colorado River Salinity Control Forum was briefed on project status at its October meeting in Jackson, WYoming. A modification to the Cooperative Agreement between Reclamation and Aquatrain, Inc. has been drafted which explicitly defines each party's responsibilities associ ated with project sa 1 i nity control features. Negotiations to study use of Glenwood-Dotsero Springs water in oil shale pro- cessing continue. Anticipated November Activities Modification to the Cooperative Agreement to be signed. Working Agreement No.2 to be signed defining Reclamation's and Aquatrain, Inc.'s activities and commitment of resources and funds to determine which bene- ficial use saline water projects to carry into feasibility-level studies. COAL MARKETS AND SUPPLY September and October Activities Protocol and working papers on purchases of coal by Jap~n were drafted and for- warded to the Commissioner of Reclamation, Washington, D.C. A representative of Aquatrain, Inc. traveled to Pacific Rim nations to determine potential coal markets. Other meetings with coal suppliers were held. Anticipated November Activities Meetings will be scheduled in Washington, D.C., to initiate action on the protocol. Aquatrain, Inc. executives will make project presentations to Pacific Rim government agenci es and pri vate compani es to determi ne interest, and/or obtai n commitments for coal. 2
