Concepts on how the <br />water could be used in the plant were discussed, and agreement on the study <br />approach were reached with plant personnel. <br /> <br />The Colorado River Salinity Control Forum was briefed on project status at its <br />October meeting in Jackson, WYoming. <br /> <br />A modification to the Cooperative Agreement between Reclamation and Aquatrain, <br />Inc. has been drafted which explicitly defines each party's responsibilities <br />associ ated with project sa 1 i nity control features. <br /> <br />Negotiations to study use of Glenwood-Dotsero Springs water in oil shale pro- <br />cessing continue. <br /> <br />Anticipated November Activities <br /> <br />Modification to the Cooperative Agreement to be signed. <br /> <br />Working Agreement No.2 to be signed defining Reclamation's and Aquatrain, <br />Inc.'s activities and commitment of resources and funds to determine which bene- <br />ficial use saline water projects to carry into feasibility-level studies. <br /> <br />COAL MARKETS AND SUPPLY <br /> <br />September and October Activities <br /> <br />Protocol and working papers on purchases of coal by Jap~n were drafted and for- <br />warded to the Commissioner of Reclamation, Washington, D.C. <br /> <br />A representative of Aquatrain, Inc. traveled to Pacific Rim nations to determine <br />potential coal markets. Other meetings with coal suppliers were held. <br /> <br />Anticipated November Activities <br /> <br />Meetings will be scheduled in Washington, D.C., to initiate action on the <br />protocol. <br /> <br />Aquatrain, Inc. executives will make project presentations to Pacific Rim <br />government agenci es and pri vate compani es to determi ne interest, and/or obtai n <br />commitments for coal. <br /> <br />2 <br />
